As one of the many ways Disney is celebrating Halloween this year, they have released the first-ever Muppets Halloween special, “Muppets Haunted Mansion,” on Disney+.

At a run time of only an hour, this special manages to squeeze in plenty of outstanding songs, corny jokes, Haunted Mansion references, celebrity cameos and heartwarming themes.

This special features the usual returning cast of Muppets such as Kermit, Ms. Piggy and Fozzie. However, the main focus this time around is the adventures of Gonzo and Pepe as they journey through the Haunted Mansion in order to survive the night and make it out by sunrise.

The plot of the special is focused on Gonzo and Pepe riding in the back of a taxi cab on their way to the Haunted Mansion. Gonzo says that he was given an invite to the Mansion for a fear challenge and that the mansion is where his favorite magician disappeared 100 years ago.

Pepe, on the other hand, says that he is only going to meet plenty of celebrity VIPs. Upon arriving at the mansion, the two muppets are greeted by the unnamed host of the mansion who tells Gonzo he was invited to the mansion to see if he could survive the night or not.

Gonzo eagerly accepts the challenge as he proclaims himself to be scared of nothing. The pair then come face to face with plenty of the ghostly residents of the mansion as they make their way through its spooky and cameo-filled hallways.

This Muppets special features a solid human cast with Yvette Nicole Brown playing the taxi driver, Will Arnett as the gravelly-voiced host of the mansion and John Stamos as himself.

Dave Goelz is returning to voice Gonzo, and Bill Barretta is returning to voice Pepe.

This special has a little something for everyone and can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. If you are a fan of the Muppets and the Muppets specials, then this special is definitely worth a watch and fits right in with past Muppets specials. Even if you are not an avid Muppets fan, you are sure to find some enjoyment in this spooky, silly Halloween special.
